NEW NATIONAL LOCKDOWN ANNOUNCED

Dear Parents and Families

I feel so sad and upset this evening that we are entering a new, more stringent national lockdown at midnight.
We were planning to greet and meet all our beautiful children tomorrow and begin our school term tomorrow. That has changed abruptly.
I know you will all support your children in explaining with care why we cannot welcome everybody back tomorrow.
We will remain open throughout this period to lead and support home learning once again and provide childcare for key workers and vulnerable children.
Tomorrow, may we ask that only children with both parents who are Key Workers or a single parent of a Key Worker, come to school tomorrow at your usual drop off time, including breakfast club if you need emergency childcare for your frontline work.
Tomorrow we will produce home learning packs for everybody and teachers will be in touch with their class crews on Tapestry and SeeSaw. We will also organise collection times for home learning packs by age group on Wednesday and try to find and share with you all information on free school meal vouchers for eligible children.
In the meantime, please call us if you need any advice or support. I know that working together, we can support your child’s learning and development, keep everybody safe and show the strength in our school community with kindness, compassion and resilience.
Thank you all and stay safe
Andrea Curran and the SVP staff crew

Message re School Nurses -

Whilst the response to covid-19 is requiring us all to reduce social contact, we are aware that some pupils or parents may still have other concerns which they would like to speak to a School Nurse about. The School Nurses are still available and their area contact details can be found on their website www.nwbh.nhs.uk/school-nurses-knowsley

Message from Mrs Curran

Dear Parents & Families
I just wanted to let you know of our plans to send our and your beautiful children off tomorrow.  It is going to be an emotional day for us all as no-one here wants to close.  We love your children like our own and will miss them all.  However, we are determined to make it a joyful and memorable day too.  A school is far more than the building that surrounds it and our school is full of relationships and connection and love.
1.  All children attending tomorrow can wear non-uniform.
2.  We will set up games, have a class party (you don't need to bring food at this time) and engage in art & craft activities.  We will also sing and dance.
Thank you all

Andrea Curran

Latest Information from the Government

Dear Parents and Carers,

Secretary of State’s Announcement

It was announced this evening that schools will close at the end of the day on Friday. Whilst we were anticipating the announcement might come soon, some of its contents require our further planning.

The key points were:

  1. Schools will all close at the end of the day on Friday except for certain categories of children. These are:
    • Children (e.g.) those with an Education & Health Care Plan, and those with a social worker.
    • Children of essential workers such as health, police, social care, and delivery drivers.
  2. Meals or vouchers will be provided for those in receipt of free school meals from the government
  3. There are no exams or tests in May and June, including SATs.

Clearly, this announcement raises questions about how this will work in practice. We expect to receive more detailed and specific guidance from the DfE soon; I will then write to you again.

In the meantime, all our children who are well should continue to attend as usual in line with the recommendations made by Public Health England. We are open tomorrow and on Friday and will finalise our support for the children’s Home Learning.

As we await further information, I wanted to reassure you that we will make plans that are in the best interests of our children, staff and community. We will update you on progress again tomorrow, including information about how we will collate information from the families who will continue to need onsite education provision as outlined above.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we work out the changes to national schooling In order to support key staff and the NHS.

warm regards And look after yourselves

Andrea Curran

Home Learning Packs

Dear Parents & Families,

As we have 65 children currently not in school, we are sending all children home with Home Learning Packs over the next two days.  We appreciate all your support as parents in educating your child/children and should we be instructed to close in the coming weeks, we would like all children to undertake the learning tasks in their packs.  If they are unwell, then of course, we only expect them to do so when feeling well enough.  We hope this will support all of you in continuing life as normal as possible whilst ensuring our children keep learning and don't forget all they have learnt this year!  We have sent a previous message for those families currently self-isolating.

If no family or friends can collect your child/children's packs, please call the office on 0151 477 8020.

Thank you for all your support.
